Resin Art Meets Canvas
THE ARTIST & HER STORY
Olivia Collins is a Melbourne based maker working from her Bayside home studio where she creates her popular resin artworks and textile designs.
With a background in corporate marketing & support and commercial art gallery management, Olivia returned to her creative roots after the birth of her daughter in 2012, realising that life was too short not to pursue her passions. Inspired by the interior design world's growing fascination with resin, Olivia partook in a series of resin painting workshops, and has not looked back.
Captivated by the experimental nature of the medium and enamoured with the high gloss finish that results. Olivia began selling her resin designs at local arts & craft markets ... and thus 'Olivia Collins Art and Design' was born. Having recently transformed her eye-catching designs into a series of bespoke cushions, and with like-minded projects and collaborations in the pipeline, Olivia could not be more enthused about her brand's future.
When she is not in her art studio, you will find Olivia teaching piano to her dozen young students after school and she enjoys a tinkle on the ivories whenever she gets the chance. Having been immersed in the arts (piano, violin, painting, drawing, acting, creative writing) since as long as she can remember, Olivia strongly believes in nurturing creativity from an early age and supporting arts education at every level. Olivia also serves as the Honorary Secretary for the Youth Music Foundation of Australia - an organisation committed to raising funds for and supporting talented musicians.
Olivia's resin artworks and bespoke cushions are available for purchase on her website and through selected stores. Olivia is currently accepting commissions for residential and commercial spaces, and is available to consult on styling decisions including sourcing furniture and artwork (Olivia herself collects art by a number of emerging and established Australian artists).
Olivia holds a Bachelor of Commerce/Arts (Honours) from the University of Melbourne, Diploma of Professional Interior Design from the Interior Design Academy and the Licentiate Diploma in Music, Australia (LMusA) in Piano from the Australian Music Examinations Board.
